Anniversary Shout Out!

While we were in Vegas Andrew's parents celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary! Mom spent the anniversary with our dear Connor instead of with Dad but they were reunited on Sunday so at least they were able to spend a bit of their special weekend together. While Mom was here Dad sent her an absolutely stunning flower arrangement- so sweet!

Here's Mom and Dad with Connor, taken during their visit to NYC in April. Connor decided his Nana's sunglasses looked better on his Grandad.

The gorgeous flowers!

A side view.

Happy Anniversary to our wonderful parents!

Memorial Day week/weekend Part 1: Vegas Baby!!

The Wednesday prior to Memorial Day weekend we met Trish and Seph (our Tokyo friends that now live in Texas) in Vegas for 3 nights, 4 days. This was my first time there, I've been wanting to go for what seems like forever and this seemed like a perfect time! Andrew was already out west for a conference so he met me there. I freaking LOVED Vegas and I can't wait to go back. It was the perfect mix of relaxation during the day and fun and entertainment at night. We also had a good mix of time spent with Trish and Seph and by ourselves which was nice. I really feel like we did it all (except for a seeing a show, that will have to wait until next time). Andrew won big the first night we were there but proceeded to lose it all plus a little more over the next two nights (isn't that a familiar Vegas story?). My game was black jack and I left down only $15. Not bad considering it provided me with hours of entertainment and free drinks!

Andrew's Mom came to NYC to stay with Connor while we were gone which we sooooo appreciated. It was so nice for us to know that we were leaving him in such great hands and from what we hear, they had a GREAT time together! I think she is still going through a bit of Connor withdrawal :) It was so nice to have some time away to ourselves but we sure missed our little guy and were more than ready to come back to him!

Somehow I didn't take very many pictures while we were there, but here's a few.

At Lavo for drinks on our first night:

We liked Lavo so much we went back there with the Jensens for dinner on night #2:

Trish and Seph at Lavo. They celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary that night, you can see a candle in their dessert of fried oreos (an NYC fave food- sounds weird but SO delicious!!). Poor Trish dislocated her shoulder (apparently this happens to her often :( ) the first night there (hence the sling). She was a good sport about it though. When our waitress asked what happened to her she said "you should see the other girl!"

I HEART VEGAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New Connor Pics

Photos have been successfully uploaded. I'll start with a few new Connor shots of course!

He loves to go down the slide all by himself.

He's also mastered walking up and down stairs, quite a feat being that we don't have any at home! Here he is at the park. He really concentrates as he goes up and down.

I've mentioned that he helps me put away the stuff in the dishwasher each morning. He's obviously really observant because he puts everything in the correct drawers and cabinets, right down to the lids to our pots and pans that go in the drawer under the stove. The other morning he assembled the lid to our cocktail shaker on his sippy cup and walked around the house shaking it before retreating to his cabinet. Looks like he's seen Andrew and I make some margaritas!

Intently reading one of his favorite books "The Night Before Christmas" aka, Connor's birthday! My Dad caught this one.

My Dad also took this one during his visit. We were on our way back from the Childrens Museum and Connor used his awesome taxi-hailing skills to grab us a ride home. He's so serious!

He's pretty good about making sure that both Puppy and Elmo have something to drink everyday.

Connor eats pretty much exclusively using a regular sized fork and spoon. Of course I closely monitor this process but he uses them almost perfectly and will basically go on a hunger strike if I don't let him have them. He's an extremely independent little guy!

Still Here

Basically, since I suffer from an affliction of taking entirely way too many pictures of my son, there is no more room for new pictures on my computer so I've been unable to upload anything new for a few weeks now. Andrew has promised to help me with this issue so hopefully in another day or two I'll be able to post some new pics. I just think blog updates are nothing without pictures! But I'm still here, and have lots of updates to share including Cinco de Mayo festivities, a cherry blossom wedding at the Brooklyn Botanical garden, a visit from my Dad, Andrew's trip to Pebble Beach, bike riding in Central Park with Connor, a visit from Andrew's Mom and most recently, our trip to Vegas with the Jensens just this past weekend. The below picture is from Andrew's trip to Pebble Beach. That's Clint Eastwood standing next to him- who (in our opinion) is just about one of the greatest actors out there. Andrew said he's very friendly, very laid back, and very tall. Cool picture!

Random Connor photos of the week

Happy baby.

Sleepy baby.

I bought Connor this grocery cart along with a bunch of fake food. This has been a huge hit and has provided endless entertainment. He loves to push his cart around the apartment and pass out food to anyone who will take it (this includes Puppy and Elmo).

What? Is there something on my face?

Gotta keep Puppy healthy and strong.

Connor's newest kiss is to put his hands on either side of your face and plant one on you. Ahhhhh.

Connor's cabinet. An empty cabinet in the kitchen where he likes to sit and while I cook or do the dishes. Sometimes he'll bring books in here to read.

Happy Mother's Day!

A quick shout out to all of the Moms in my life- especially my Mom, my Grandma Alice and Andrew's Mom!

I had a really, really wonderful day with my boys. I was just about to put Connor to bed tonight when I realized we hadn't taken a single picture together on Mother's Day, so we took the above one quickly (Connor was already in his pj's).

I hope all of the Moms reading this had great days today as well!

First Haircut

On Saturday afternoon we took Connor to get his first haircut. I know how cheesy this sounds but I literally woke up Saturday morning with a heavy heart knowing his adorable curls that I loved so much were about to go. But it was time- for several reasons. First, the back had become a bit of a nest that was getting more and more difficult to comb out after a bath. I think there were some weeds growing back there. Second, we had a couple of really hot days last week and I thought it was time for Connor to get a summer 'do. And last but not least, three people in one week told me what a gorgeous daughter I had. That hair had to go!

We took Connor to a kids haircut place called Cozy's where he got to sit in a toy car. Marlene, his "stylist," was so much fun. To say he had a blast would be an unbelievable understatement- he was giggling and grinning ear to ear almost the entire time!
He loved steering the wheel, his cape flying!

"Hmmm Marlene, I'm not sure this style is going to go with the polo shirts my Mom puts me in."

Ok, sit up straight and hold still!

"Hold up Marlene, we talked about this. Not so much off the back please."

All done!

With our newly trimmed tot.

Later, talking to his Great Grandma Alice, "Gram I'm not kidding, they took ALL of my curls!!"

"At least I got a certificate!" Ha!
