Moving Day!

Today is the big move!! Bye bye city living :( but hello suburbs and a having car :)
And a yard:

Here's Connor in his room a year ago today. And now here we go again!

A few pictures from our last weekend in NYC:

Out for a walk.

Last visit to C's favorite playground! He loves this climbing wall.

And of course the slides.

My Mom and her two girlfriends Dianna and Rhonda were up in NYC for their annual girls trip to the city. Last year during their trip they helped unpack us in our new apartment. They couldn't believe a year later we were moving once again (and neither can I)! They were nice enough to hang with Connor a couple times so that Andrew and I could grab a few last meals out alone. Thanks again!!

Mom loves having his Grandma around!

Connor's 2 Year Checkup

We had Connor's two year check up this morning. I haven't done stats on him in quite a while so here they are: he's 35 inches and 28.5 lbs, right around the 50th percentile for both height and weight.

And the picture above to accompany his stats... my little Mr. Independent. He loves to get his own water and ice. He drags his stool over to the fridge and uses the ice and water dispenser. He likes to press the buttons to switch back and forth between ice and water. Luckily he's pretty good at it and doesn't make too much of a mess!

Big Week, Big Day, Lots of Lasts

This has been a busy week/weekend! We've been tying up lots of loose ends here and getting everything set for the move to the new house. To add to the excitement, the swine flu hit our house this past week. Apparently Andrew brought it home with him from Tokyo (lovely), as a couple of his Tokyo co-workers came down with it as well. Luckily, with an excessive amount of hand washing (not sure if my hands will ever recover) both Connor and I managed to avoid it. Thank goodness. Andrew was hit hard for two days straight but he was up and around just fine after that. I'd say in general it was pretty mild just because it didn't last all that long. Again, thank goodness. Yesterday we had a final walk-thru at the new house, just making sure everything was fixed that was supposed to be, and it all was. So... we're all set to close and move in early next week- woo hoo!

In the meantime, this past week and this coming week are a whole lot of "lasts." Most involve food and our favorite places to eat- "this is our last Thai, Indian, Turkish, Mexican... whatever" (since you can literally find whatever within a three block radius in NYC.) Others involve people and places- our last visit to the Childrens Museum this past week (which has been one of Connor and I's favorite field trip locations), strolls through Central Park, playgroups and playdates, lunches with friends, etc. This morning Andrew took Connor out in the jogging stroller for their last run up the East River. This afternoon we had Connor's last haircut at his fave kiddie cut place and tomorrow we have his last checkup with his current pediatrician. Andrew and I have also been trying to cram in a couple of "last" nights out just the two of us, knowing that it might be a while before we get set up with a babysitter in our new town. I just can't imagine finding someone that we love and trust as much as our sitter here!!

Here's a couple of pictures from today. We had our last lunch at Brother Jimmy's, our fave southern BBQ place. Andrew and Connor have had weekly "guys" lunches there just about every weekend for the last year and today I joined them. You can imagine Connor's excitement when a firetruck pulled up outside and a couple of fireman got out and waved to him. He's definitely going to miss seeing so many firetrucks and other emergency vehicles on a daily basis!!

And here's a few from his haircut. We're both going to miss this place.

They cut off the last of his summer blond, I was shocked at how dark his hair really is!

In other exciting news, today has been a BIG day for two of my very best friends. First, Jackie turns the Big 3-0! Happy Birthday Jackie! And second, Jessica (my best friend since we were literally three years old) went into labor with her first baby (a son!). I'm just dying to hear the news. Overall, a really great day!!

Connor loves to do whatever his Dad is doing- including "reading" the newspaper. Love Saturday mornings with my boys!

Afternoon with the Girls

Yesterday my girlfriends came over for lunch and to hang at my place. Tracey brought sweet little Maeve who is four months old already!

Christie and Maeve.

Tracey (Maeve's Mom), Christie and Maeve

(Someday) Connor is going to be such a great big brother! He was so sweet and gentle with her (as always!)

Maeve's first kiss from a boy :)

Such a fun afternoon!

Missing Andrew

Andrew's been in Tokyo all week and we sure do miss him! Especially Connor, the last several mornings I hear him (normally my major Mama's boy) calling out from his crib when he wakes up in the morning "Dada? Dada?" and then when I go in to get him he goes "No, no no, Dada!" (all while shaking his finger back and forth like a little old lady- his friend Claire taught him that one :)

Andrew will be home tomorrow morning and Connor and I are so excited to see him!

Happy New Year!

I'm a little late but I wanted to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! We had a great New Year's Eve. Annie and John came over for dinner and drinks and we had a fun night just hanging at our place, and later watching the ball drop on TV. Come midnight we could see the fireworks and glow of Times Square from our window (although no the above picture is not mine, I jacked it from the internet :) I have always loved being in New York City on New Year's Eve, it just feels more festive! New Year's Day Andrew, Connor, me, Annie and John took the train out to Hoboken to see Shann and Rob and their new Bambino- the cutest little guy in NJ!! He was seriously the most adorable little baby. What a fun way to kick off the new year- with a couple of my besties and our families.

Random story of something funny that happened today- About 6 years ago Andrew and I bought a brown leather chair from Ethan Allen. We were 23 and it was our first major furniture purchase together. Up until that point, it was probably the most money either of us had ever spent on anything (although an engagement ring would soon follow!) Fast forward to the present, the frame of our beloved chair gave out on Christmas day. Luckily its still under warranty so Ethan Allen is going to send someone out to fix it. On the phone today the woman wanted to confirm that we still lived at 312 E. 93rd St. (friends and fam might recall that as being Andrew and I's first place together- a "cozy" studio/quasi-one bedroom on the 6th floor of a 6 floor walk up in Spanish Harlem (hey- everybody's gotta start somewhere!) I had to laugh at that because we've actually had FIVE addresses since then and we're about to move yet AGAIN at the end of the month- yes, we have moved every year for as long as I can remember. Crazy! So what I'm most looking forward to in 2010 is our first HOME, to building our life there... and to staying there for as LONG as possible... two years at least!!

Cheers to 2010!
