The Money Pit

The Money Pit (movie with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long) is one of our very favorites, we literally stop and watch it every time we catch it on tv. It makes us laugh so hard! A couple of weekends ago it was like a scene out of the The Money Pit over here. We had some chipping exterior paint. We were hoping to wait until next year to have the house repainted so Andrew went out to chip and repaint those spots himself. When he started to chip away at the paint, he discovered that in some areas the wood underneath was totally rotted (from a leaky gutter). So he pulled off all the rotted wood, and the insulation (which was also wet) along with it. Leyla ran in the house to get me, saying "Mommy, hurry- Daddy's breaking the whole house!!" And this is what I found (he was indeed breaking the house). He did this in other areas of the house as well.

I said that our house was becoming The Money Pit (joking!) It took Andrew a couple borrowed tools, several trips to the hardware store, and two full days but he put in all new insulation, all new wood, siding, etc and repainted it. Our house looks good as new again and I'm beyond impressed with Andrew's handyman skills once again! I think he secretly wishes he could quit his job and build houses for a living...

Our elderly neighbors across the street (who have no kids of their own and are so, so nice to us and our kids) were in awe of Andrew's handywork and asked if he could help them with a few pieces of rotting wood on their house. He's helping them with theirs this weekend ;)

Logan is 3 Months!

I have a bunch of posts in que but first up- our little guy is 3 months old! He's such a sweet little boy. We have his doc appt on Friday so I'll have stats then but he's definitely a big ole boy. New this past month is reaching for and holding onto toys, and the occasional laugh out loud (which is just about my favorite thing!) Love his coos and ah-goos and of course his awesome little smile! He's already found his thumb unfortunately and constantly has it in his mouth (ugh.) He's strong, and loves to "stand." He still really loves bath time. He appears to be done with waking in the night to eat at all (WOOHOO!!) and we've had several nights lately when he's gone to bed before and woken after Connor and Leyla (the one benefit of thumbsucking I guess.) Knock on wood, my nights with a newborn appear to be over and that's a chapter I'm ok with closing!

Have fallen behind with my postings once again. A quick hello from Logan, who will be three months old this Saturday!

Leyla's 1st Day of School

September 11th + Leyla's first day of school + post partum hormones = a teary Mom yesterday.

My big girl! She was so, so excited. At her school they wear slippers inside the classroom, here she's modeling her new slippers and backpack ;) Those curls just kill me.

Leyla did great. As we were pulling up to the school she asked me if I could just stay with her for two minutes. I told her I couldn't (the teachers actually come and get the kids out of the car, fabulous when you've got another baby in there!) She was ok with that. And when Miss Patty came over to get her out she was so excited to show her her new slippers. Then she jumped right out of the car and went in! So proud of my big girl! Yes I cried (probably wouldn't have but Andrew rode with us too and he grabbed my hand as we watched her walk in).

Tiny Dancer

Leyla had her first day of ballet this week! She was the prettiest little ballerina I ever saw. At risk of sounding cheesy, she literally takes my breath away.

Ballerinas lining up. It was almost too much cuteness!! Leyla has only done "Mommy and Me" classes up until now- so I wasn't sure how it was going to go when they took her in there without me. She hesitated (that's me in the pink in the back corner, telling another Mom I wasn't sure how this was going to go) but she went in. And loved it of course!

Back at home. She still didn't want to take her ballet dress off.

The Boys

Logan is 2 Months!

Logan turned two months old last week. He's 12 lbs (75th %) and 23 inches (50th %) and his head was 25-50th %. Funny enough- Connor was the exact same height and weight at his 2 month check up. He's been just a rockstar sleeper and this makes Mommy so happy!

It can't be so bad being the third kid- he's got an older brother and sister who absolutely adore him. This is one very loved little guy!
