How it all went down:
As I wrote about before, I had been having lots of contractions in the night that either didn't last long enough or weren't regular or painful enough, etc and never amounted to a trip to the hospital. Contractions began regularly again Thursday afternoon. They weren't painful enough to not be able to talk through them (as true labor pains are) but they were regular and painful enough that I thought they warranted a call to the doctor. They were 4-5 mins apart. The doctor thought that since this was my third baby (what they like to call the wild cards) and rush hour was nearing, we should head to the hospital to check things out. Andrew came home from work, I took a quick shower, finished packing my hospital bag (just in case- the cynic in me was sure the doctor would end up sending us back home) and our sitter Becca came over to stay with the kids (I'm so glad I didn't have to call her in the middle of the night!) We got to the hospital around 5pm and I was 4-5 cm dilated and declared to be in labor- hallelujah! I won't go into all the details but things went pretty smoothly (minus the horrible pain part) from there. And then- A BOY! I burst into happy tears! I still can't believe I have TWO sons (and one amazing daughter!)
Last pregnancy pic- bittersweet ;)
Here he is! He looks so much like Connor did as a baby.
Proud Dad.
Sweet baby boy.
He's lost most of the puffiness/chunk since coming home from the hospital but here I thought he looked just like a little Buddha baby.
Awake!
I really love his little old man hands.
And Andrew's finger toes are passed down once again.
Sleepy baby.
Friday Connor went to his last day of baseball camp in the morning (he told me he was so excited to tell all his friends that he had a new baby brother!!) and then they all headed over to the hospital to meet the baby. Andrew sent me this cute video.
Brothers!! Connor is so pumped that it's a boy!
They came back to visit again Saturday morning before Andrew took them to the pool and then to a birthday party (total Dad duty!) Then they picked my Mom up from the train station before coming back to the hospital to have dinner with me.
Saturday morning, the kids helping to pick Logan up from the nursery:
Logan's new reality! This happens to him a lot.
Since the baby was born after midnight (by 29 minutes!) I was able to stay in the hospital until Sunday morning which was so nice. It's an awesome hospital and was nice to have the help from the nurses, lactation consultants, etc.
Our "celebration dinner" the night before going home- filet and lobster!!
Sunday morning, ready to go home! He makes this face a lot. I think it looks like a "where the heck am I and how did I get here" face.
My beautiful flowers!
More pictures to come of our first few days at home. We're so happy to be a family of five- the gang's all here! Feeling extremely blessed!!
