Frozen would have to be the theme of this winter. For two reasons- first, (obviously) the newest Disney movie
Frozen. From the moment Leyla first saw it she was hooked. Or I could say
obsessed. Particularly with the main character Queen Elsa, the snow queen. We saw it several times in the theater and listen to the music all the time at home. Luckily, it really is an awesome movie, and I love it too. Her favorite song (and every little girl's favorite song apparently) is Let It Go. She's singing it
constantly. She knows every word, gesture, hand movement, facial expression. A little scary. Knowing how much she loved Queen Elsa, and in advance of our upcoming Disney trip, I went online and ordered her the Queen Elsa costume. Needless to say, she adores this dress and rarely takes it off. Hence why most pictures of Leyla from this winter are of her in her Elsa dress ;)
Second reason- what a crazy freaking winter its been. It's the longest, coldest, snowiest winter I can remember. It was a wonderful winter wonderland for a while but I'm more than ready to move on. Today is officially the first day of spring and I'm thrilled!
Some pictures from our very snowy winter:
Sometimes it was too cold even for a snow queen. She was happier to stay inside while Connor chucked snowballs at her. A win for both.
Too. Much. Snow.
Getting our mail became tricky.
Snow fort!
I loved this, it was a warm enough day not to have to wear jackets (so weird when there's that much snow on the ground!) The kids were outside blowing bubbles in the snow. BFF's!
Snowy weekend nap time/happy hour :)
I filled spray bottles with water color paints and water- the kids had so much fun "painting" the snow. It literally occupied them for
hours!
Even if some parts of my yard ended up looking like a crime scene ;)
Bye bye winter (I hope!)
